Aerial Yoga @ Sangha
BENEFITS OF AERIAL YOGA
Relieves compression in the spine
Aerial yoga inversions provide the unique opportunity to reverse the natural downward compression in the spine, allowing the soft tissues in the back to release and relax, and joint compression in the spinal column to be relieved.
Builds strength and flexibility
Practicing aerial yoga is an excellent way to build functional strength, especially pulling strength and core strength. The aerial yoga hammock aids in increasing flexibility safely through both active and passive stretching.
Detoxifies the body and improves blood circulation
Aerial yoga helps to improve blood circulation and to detoxify the lymphatic system, draining lymph nodes in the lower extremities through inversions and eliminating pollutants in the body. This helps improve overall health and wellness.
Boosts mood, energy, and focus/relieves stress
Aerial yoga inversions induce relaxation in the body, turning off the “fight or flight” stress response and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, our “rest and digest” response. Inversions increase blood flow to the heart, lungs, and brain, providing more oxygen to these areas which helps to boost energy and focus. Combining breath with movement helps us arrive in the present moment by reconnecting the mind and body, which can help us find mental calm in a fast paced world. This practice of mindfulness helps combat stress throughout the day, and has a positive cumulative effect over time on our ability to deal with stress.
Challenges proprioception
In aerial yoga we spend a lot of time upside down, challenging our senses and our kinaesthetic awareness of our body within space.

AERIAL YOGA FLOW CLASS
Book your classes through our schedule! Wednesdays 8-9pm , Saturdays 4-5pm, with Lilly Collins
Our Aerial Yoga Flow class follows much the same structure as a vinyasa class, incorporating meditation, breathing exercises, and flow through physical asanas. For students new to yoga, the hammock provides support in finding balance and proper alignment while learning new postures. For those with a regular yoga practice, the aerial yoga hammock provides new space to play and move within known postures (get creative!), aid in deepening the stretch, and support working on more difficult positions such as headstands, handstands, and asanas that are unique to aerial yoga.
* This is an intermediate level class, we recommend taking our beginners course for 6 weeks before attending if you are new to Aerial Yoga.
